حول سلع الطاقة
يعتبر تقلبات السوق المرتفعة السمة الأكثر نموذجية لأسعار الطاقة، نتيجة للعديد من العوامل السياسية والبيئية التي تؤثر عليها. ان العديد من عوامل العرض والطلب تؤثر على أسعار الطاقة، حيث يعد نمو الإقتصاد العالمي العامل الأقوى بينها. يزيد الطلب على الطاقة في أوقات الرخاء الإقتصادي، في حين ينخفض الإستهلاك في أوقات الركود الاقتصادي.
إلى جانب التغيرات الإقتصادية، تؤثر الظروف الجوية القاسية أيضاً إلى حد كبير على مصادر الطاقة، مما يؤدي إلى إنقطاع إمدادات النفط الخام، أو الغاز الطبيعي أو وقود التدفئة. ونتيجة لذلك، تعمل هذه الظروف على خفض أو زيادة الطلب على خدمات إستهلاكية كثيرة تتعلق بمصادر الطاقة هذه. وعلاوة على ذلك، تتأثر أسعار الطاقة العالمية بشكل ملحوظ نتيجة عدم الإستقرار السياسي فى بعض أكبر حقول الغاز الطبيعي في العالم.
النفط هو سوق معولم، على مدار 24 ساعة، وأسعاره في حركة دائمة. وهذا يجعله وسيلة مثالية للمتداولين اليوميين الذين يبحثون عن الحركات السريعة ويختارون العقود مقابل الفروقات كالطريقة الأسهل للتداول على أسعار النفط.
